Sensory-Friendly Time at Build-A-Bear Workshop: Every Tuesday for the first hour of the day

 

Thurs. 8/1 - The Goonies (PG) @4pm in the meeting room. Open to all ages. Cool off with popcorn and a retro movie. Remember: Goonies never say die! @Keller Public Library


Thurs. 8/1 - Crafternoon! Join us as we explore new techniques and materials and build a piece of art ready to take home and display. This educational program was designed for children grades K-5. This event is every Thursday in August from 4-5PM @Golden Triangle Library


Thurs. 8/1 - Chess Club! The Golden Triangle Chess Club welcomes players of all skill levels. If you don’t know how to play chess, come learn! More experienced? Come test your skill against other players every Thursday at the Fort. Our chess club is open for people of all ages and skill levels! This event is every Thursday in August from 5:30-7:30PM. @Golden Triangle Library


Thurs. 8/1 - Family Place Workshop. Thursdays in August 2024. Ages 6 months-2 years at 9-10am. Ages 3-5 years at 11-12pm. Parents and guardians of children 6 months to 5 years: This workshop is for you! Join WPL for free, one-on-one conversations with child development professionals this August.

Fri. 8/2 - Teen Trivia: Studio Ghibli - Lincoln location. 2-3PM. Test your knowledge of Japan’s Studio Ghibli with some trivia and fun snacks and celebrate the beloved film Spirited Away with DIY soot sprites. We designed this program for teens (Grade 6-12). @Fort Worth Public Library


Sat. 8/3 - Books Out Loud from 4:30-5:30PM. Join in as we read a selection from some of your favorite books every Thursday. Take the time to sit, drink lemonade, and relax as we read a chapter or two together. This program is designed for youth in grades 6-8. @Golden Triangle Library


Sun. 8/4 - Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese. Chuck E. Cheese is proud to support families who have children with autism and other special needs. Through our Sensory Sensitive Sundays program we’re able to offer families a quieter dining and entertainment environment, dimmed lighting and a sensory-friendly arcade experience. Our sensory-friendly events also include a trained and caring staff to ensure each guest has a safe, fun-filled visit. Check here for participating locations. @Chuck E. Cheese


Mon. 8/5 - Block Party @2pm in the meeting for ages 5-10 years. Like Legos? We’ve got lots! Come freebuild with us. @Keller Public Library


Mon. 8/5 - Little Artists: Bubbles from 2-3PM. Bubble Painting at the library transforms colorful bubbles into a sparkling masterpiece! We designed this program for children from 3-5 years old. @Golden Triangle Library


Tues. 8/6 - Bad Art Night @4:30pm in the meeting room. Open to ages 11-17. No skill? No problem! Get creative and paint your masterpiece on a canvas you can take home! Materials provided. @Keller Public Library


Tues. 8/6 - Dollar Days Presented by Whataburger at the Dallas Zoo from 8-5. Join us for this year’s Dollar Days Presented by Whataburger! These are some of our biggest and wildest days, but they are also some of our favorites! Dollar Days are our way of giving back, making the Zoo accessible for all, and saying “thank you” to our amazing community that supports us year-round. These days sell out every year, so get your tickets NOW! We’ll have $1, $2, and $3 deals on select snacks and beverages, including popcorn, ice cream, canned drinks, and more! @Dallas Zoo


Tues. 8/6 - Homeschool Item Swap!

August 6: Meet-Up @ 2-4PM

August 7: Come-and-Go @ 12-5:45PM

Exchange and swap out unneeded items! Stop by the meet-up time to exchange ideas as well as supplies.

Donated items can be left at the event for future Homeschool Item Swaps or taken home before the end of the overall event. This event is for homeschoolers. @Watauga Public Library


Wed. 8/7 - The Mobile Dairy Classroom. Learn all about dairy and the dairy industry with the Mobile Dairy Classroom! This event is aimed towards our storytime families—new and old! This event is for ages 2-6. The event will be held outside, in front of the library. @Watauga Public Library


Wed. 8/7 - Small Scientists from 11:30AM-12:15PM. Join us each month at the library for STEM stories and sensory explorations. Sometimes messy but always fun! We designed this program for 18-36-month-olds and their grown ups.  @Golden Triangle Library


Wed. 8/7 - AvaParty: The Last Airbender from 4:30-6:30PM. Dress up for an evening of come and go family fun celebrating the many delights of the four nations. We designed this program for families with children of all ages.  @Golden Triangle Library


Fri. 8/9 - Back-to-School Crown. Available starting August 9. Celebrate the first day of school with this take-home craft. Available while supplies last. @Keller Public Library


Sat. 8/10 - Special needs screening of Harold and the Purple Crayon. Our sensory-friendly Special Needs Screenings present movies with the lights up, the volume low, and moving around, talking, and even dancing in the aisles is welcome. Special Needs Screenings are shown at 11:00am at all SMG locations. Tickets are free for all attendees and available at the Box Office only. Seats are first come, first served. Parental guidance is suggested. @Studio Movie Grill


Tues. 8/13 - Minute to win it! @4:30pm in the meeting room. Open to ages 11-17. Teens can compete in a variety of quick, silly challenges to bring their team the gold! @Keller Public Library


Tues. 8/13 - Sensory room ribbon cutting @6pm in the Annex. Join us for the unveiling of our newest library service! Our new Sensory Room will be available by appointment to members of our community with sensory needs. Come tour the space!  @Keller Public Library


Wed. 8/14 - Preschool Dance Party @10:30 and 11am in the meeting room. Open to ages 2-5. Join us as we move and groove together in this special storytime! @Keller Public Library


Sat. 8/17 - Artist Trading Cards from 4:30-5:30PM. Create your own signature designs on trading cards to keep and to swap with other library patrons! We designed this program for teenagers from 6th - 12th Grade. @Golden Triangle Library


Sun. 8/18 - Crayola Experience Sensory Sundays. Join us on the third Sunday of each month for Sensory Sunday! Enjoy the attraction adapted just for sensory needs. @Crayola Experience


Fri. 8/23 - Anime Club @4:15pm in the meeting room. Open to ages 11-17. Meet other anime fans and eat Japanese snacks on the 4th Friday of the month! This month we’re watching Digimon Frontier! @Keller Public Library


Thur. 8/22 - Read to Miss Frida! 4th Thursday of the Month @ 5:30-7:30PM

If you're a new reader or working on your confidence, Miss Frida is here to help! Join us at WPL to practice reading. You can read silently or aloud (though Miss Frida prefers hearing stories). About Miss Frida: Miss Frida is a 10-year-old Irish Setter and Watauga resident. She is a certified Good Canine Citizen (AKC) and Therapy Dog (Alliance of Therapy Dogs and Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs). Some of her favorite things: snacks, pupcups, road trips, and meeting new friends. As a rescue, she is named after the artist Frida Khalo, who also had a second chance to create an inspirational life! This event is intended for kids 5-12.  @Watauga Public Library


Sat. 8/24 - Doodle Your Day from 4:30-5:30. Whether you’re spicing up your notes or making a list for yourself, doodles help you retain information in a creative way. No skill necessary, just bring yourself and some friends. We designed this program for teenagers from 6th - 12th Grade. @Golden Triangle Library


Tues. 8/27 - Teen Zendoodles @4:30pm in the meeting room. Open to ages 11-17. Learn to create intricate and mesmerizing patterns while expressing in this zendoodle program for teens! @Keller Public Library


Wed. 8/28 - Math is Fun! @5pm in the meeting room. Open to all ages. Join Mathnasium and decipher hidden codes and learn about cryptography! Then, let your creativity run wild while you design whatever you can imagine in Architects Delight- all while exploring how math IS fun! @Keller Public Library


Thurs. 8/29 - Bharatanatyam @5:30pm in the meeting room. Open to all ages. Join Tejas Dance for a demonstration of this classical Indian dance that is a celebration of grace, elegance, and cultural heritage.  @Keller Public Library

Kimbell Art Museum

Studio A, the Kimbell’s sensory-friendly drop-in play space for children (ages 5 and younger). Open daily.


We Rock The Spectrum Kid's Gym

We Rock the Spectrum Dallas provides children with a fun and motivational environment to help them in the areas of strength, movement, sensory processing, communication, positive behavior modification, social interactions, and self-care skills. Our unique equipment assists all children in their neurological growth and development.


Meow Wolf Grapevine

Meow Wolf has completed a company-wide accreditation to enhance the guest experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors. Meow Wolf is proud to be the only certified B-Corporation in the themed entertainment industry, with a team dedicated to social impact building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

The Museum is committed to providing easily accessible and meaningful opportunities for all guests. It’s #worldautismmonth and they are proud to highlight the Museum’s partnership with @KultureCity, a nonprofit using resources to effect change in the community for those with sensory needs. KultureCity sensory bags are now available to check-out free of charge from the Visitors Center.


Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher Sculpture Center strives to be a sensory-friendly environment where all visitors can learn and experience modern and contemporary sculpture. Visit here to learn about sensory-friendly resources available.
